| Chief's Message: Welcome to the Cordelia Fire Protection District Website. We are a customer oriented service provider. We hope that both our customers living in the District and visitors to this website will find the information a useful and interesting resource. While the original formation of Cordelia Fire Protection District occurred in 1918, we continue to offer a wide variety of programs and services to serve the people within the Fire District. We are grateful to the voters who passed the Special Tax in 2003 for the purpose of maintaining the existence of the Fire District. The District promised the voters we will provide a full-time Fire Chief, 24-hour coverage, and paramedics. I am fortunate to be the Fire Chief of this great Fire District and I fully commit to these promises made to the voters. An elected five member Board of Directors govern this Fire District. We are fortunate to have a great diversity of talent in our Board. All our citizens are welcome to attend our Board meetings. Our meetings generally last approximately two hours. The minutes of the meetings are available on our website, along with the location, dates, and time of our meetings. My intent is to run our Fire District similar to a for profit business with a lot of competition. I encourage all of our members to take care of our customers as well as we are legally able. I want us to do an excellent job from our customer’s point of view. We have a lot of talent in our proud men and women who serve in our Fire District. We plan to utilize this to provide excellence to our customers. We plan to eliminate bureaucracy and inefficiency for the public. As a Fire District, we cover 56 square miles with a population approaching 6,000. Our combination department has 55 employees, four are full-time paid, and the rest are volunteers. We have a Resident Program, where our volunteers spend a 24-hour shift in one of our two stations each week. We have an annual operating budget of $600,000. The Fire District provides operational services for emergencies such as wild land, residential, commercial, and vehicle fires, medical emergencies, with paramedics, automotive rescue. Additionally, we provide programs such as fire prevention, plans checking, public education, support services, personnel, and finance. Please surf our website and enjoy your visit.
